Dana Fradkin made her opera debut as a clown in La Boheme with the Canadian Opera Company and was an acrobat in their 2015 production of Die Walküre directed by Atom Egoyan. Most recently, Dana directed La Boheme for the Brott Opera Festival. Other directing credits include; Bernstein's Mass at the Performing Arts Centre in St. Catherine's, The Music Shop (Vancouver Opera), Little Women, Community Creation and Women Wisdom and Wit (Wilfrid Laurier University) The Laurels and The Perfect Screw (Glenn Gould School), Hansel and Gretel, Cendrillon and The Adventure's of Alice in Wonderland (the University of Ottawa) and was revival director for Brundibár (Canadian Children’s Opera Company). She was assistant director for The Flying Dutchman (Canadian Opera Company), Carmen; Up Close and Personal (Vancouver Opera), February and Powder her Face (Opera on the Avalon), No One’s Safe (Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity), The Magic Flute and Die Fledermaus (Glenn Gould School) and A Little Too Cozy and Messiah (Against the Grain Theatre).

 

Dana is a graduate of the Opera Director Residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity and the Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist Program at the Vancouver Opera.

Upcoming, Dana is directing the operatic short film, The Laurels, written by Michael Maclennan and composed by Jeffrey Ryan and La Boheme for Toronto City Opera fall 2026.
